Locally owned IT leaders join forces to strengthen cybersecurity and strategic IT advisory services for Ottawa businesses

Ottawa, ON — March 23 — Fuelled Networks has merged with Intega IT, uniting two long-standing Ottawa-based technology firms to form one of the region’s strongest locally owned IT and cybersecurity providers, operating as Intega IT.

The unified company brings together over three decades of expertise from Fuelled Networks, founded in 1993, and Intega IT, established in 2001. With a team of over 30 professionals operating from their Westboro office, the firm will deepen its focus on cybersecurity, AI advisory, and proactive IT leadership for businesses across Ottawa and Eastern Ontario.

“We’ve always believed IT should be integrated into the core of a business,” said John Robinson, CEO of Intega IT. “Our role is to align technology with business goals and support growth. Bringing our teams together strengthens our ability to do that at a deeper level.”

Under the new structure, Ernie Sherman will serve as President. Sherman has led Fuelled Networks since 1998 and is widely recognized for his expertise in cybersecurity strategy.

“We’ve respected each other as friendly competitors for years,” said Sherman. “What became clear is how aligned we are in valuing a client-centric approach and investing in our people. Selling to private equity was never the right path for us. Partnering locally allows us to grow while staying true to who we are.”

Commitment to Community

Intega IT and Fuelled Networks share a longstanding commitment to Ottawa’s nonprofit and community organizations, providing technology services, equipment donations, sponsorships, and board involvement to help local groups operate securely and reliably.

Among their community partnerships, Intega IT is the official IT partner of Atlético Ottawa, providing reliable infrastructure that supports day-to-day operations and gameday performance. The firm has also collaborated with Carty House since 2015, delivering upgraded hardware, additional computers, and proactive IT support. Other highlights include Intega IT’s role as the presenting sponsor of The Snowsuit Fund’s annual Snowball Gala, with Robinson serving on the organization’s Board of Directors.

“Giving back to our community is central to who we are,” Robinson said. “Ottawa has supported our businesses for decades. By providing technology, sponsorship, and guidance, we help our community thrive.”

Fuelled Networks brings decades of community engagement, including long-term involvement with the Ottawa Hospital Foundation, and contributions to The Ottawa Mission and Ottawa Food Bank.

Together, the combined organization brings expanded expertise and resources to its community partnerships, continuing to provide the technology and support local organizations rely on to focus on their missions.

Meeting a Critical Moment for Business Technology

The merger comes at a pivotal time for businesses navigating rapidly evolving cybersecurity threats and the growing adoption of AI. Both firms have consistently approached security as a foundational business function, not an add-on. Together, they are enhancing security frameworks for clients while continuing to emphasize user education. As Intega IT, the unified organization offers the same trusted team and service, strengthened by expanded in-house cybersecurity capabilities.

“Security isn’t static,” Sherman said. “The baseline is always changing. New threats emerge, technologies evolve, and businesses need structured action plans to adapt. Our focus is helping clients stay ahead.”

Robinson emphasized the practical reality for businesses of all sizes, adding, “Technology today sits at the centre of every business. Our partnership is to make sure it works securely, reliably, and strategically for all the businesses that we support.”

With the combined team’s expanded resources and deeper specialization, the firm will accelerate adoption of advanced security frameworks, AI integration strategies, and education-driven IT advisory services that align technology directly with business outcomes.

The integration of both teams is complete, with clients continuing to receive uninterrupted service while benefiting from enhanced strategic and security support.
